Drinking Water
Water - it is more precious than gold and it is necessary for our very survival. We at Meryman Environmental, Inc. know how important it is to provide our customers with top quality laboratory analysis of your drinking water supply. The sources of drinking water both tap and bottled water, includes rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. As water travels over the surface of the land or through the ground, it picks up particles that dissolves into the water which are either naturally occurring minerals or in some cases contaminants or radioactive materials, and can also pick up substances resulting from the presence of animals or from human biological activities.

Some contaminants that may be present in drinking water are:

• Microbial Contaminants, such as viruses and bacteria, which may come from sewage treatment plants, septic systems, agricultural livestock operations, nearby wildlife and free ranging domestic pets.
• Inorganic Contaminants, such as salts and metals which can occur naturally or result from urban stormwater runoff, industrial or domestic waste water discharges, oil and gas production or farming.
• Pesticides and Herbicides, which may come from a variety of sources such as agriculture, urban stormwater runoff and residential uses on lawns and gardens.
• Organic Chemical Contaminants, including synthetic and volatile organic chemicals, which are by-products of industrial processes and petroleum production, and can be derived also from gas stations, urban stormwater runoff, and septic tank systems.
• Radioactive Contaminants, can be naturally occurring or be the result of oil and gas production and mining activities. Florida contains extensive mining operations.

Hillsborough County Public Health Department requires Public and Private Drinking Water Systems to monitor for bacteriological and chemical compounds for compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act. Most systems are monitored on a quarterly basis, but some smaller systems are only required to monitor once a year. Our lab will analyze your drinking water and submit the results to the county directly, thus eliminating the time and hassle of doing it yourself.
